To meet the performance, capacity and flexibility requirements of an HPC environment requires high-performance storage solutions. Such solutions require new approach to storage that begins not with legacy storage technologies, but rather with a clear understanding of what an HPC environment really is. With a new storage paradigm rooted in HPC principles, HPC environments can be enabled to achieve the full promise of high performance computing without being limited by storage-related obstacles. From block storage to cluster file systems, HPC|Storage subgroups will demonstrate how to build high-performance storage solutions and their affect on applications performance and productivity. One of the main interests of the HPC|Storage subgroup is to explore Lustre based solutions, and to expose more users to the potential of Lustre over the highest speed networks.
